The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) and the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement, through which the two institutions aim to develop joint educational projects focused on strengthening financial education among athletes in the Romanian Olympic Team, as well as promoting Olympic values in society.
The event, held in the Amphitheatre Hall of the Olympic House, was attended by Mihai Covaliu, President of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, and George Boroi, Secretary General. The Financial Supervisory Authority was represented by Alexandru Petrescu, President, and Gabriel Ioan Avrămescu, First Vice-President.
The document provides a framework for cooperation over a four-year period, until 2029, with the possibility of extension. It includes the organization of training programs, conferences, seminars, public campaigns, and other events dedicated to Team Romania athletes, but also to the general public. The common goal is to integrate discipline and athletic performance with responsibility and financial sustainability in a way that inspires the whole society.
Mihai Covaliu, President of COSR, emphasized the importance of collaboration:
"Education and sports are fundamental pillars of sustainable development. Through this agreement, we are opening up new opportunities for athletes, but also for the general public, to better understand how sports discipline and financial responsibility go hand in hand."
For his part, Alexandru Petrescu, President of ASF, said:
"This protocol is not just an institutional agreement, but an investment in the future. Sports performance and financial education share the same solid foundation: discipline, perseverance, and strategic thinking. Through this partnership, we aim to build a healthy financial culture around Olympic athletes, who will in turn become role models for society."
Through this protocol, the two institutions will implement innovative educational programs aimed at increasing financial inclusion in Romania, using Olympic athletes as role models and examples of discipline, resilience, and responsibility. Joint events, workshops, public campaigns, conferences, and symposiums will contribute to promoting Olympic values and the principles of healthy financial living.
